About Us
New Horizon Preschool wants to help your child get excited about learning and become a successful student for years to come!
Our classes are designed with every learning level in mind to challenge your child in the areas they need developed. Our interactive mixed age group fosters responsibility and mentor-ship in older children while younger ages are presented with a desire to learn and grow in a cooperative environment.
Your child will be provided a number of hands-on learning experiences such as planting, harvesting, and science projects related to class themes. Lots of music and movement will enrich transitions and learning times.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide a faith-based and academically excellent curriculum for young children. We believe that every child is uniquely created, and we strive to cultivate an environment of fun and playful learning to engage every type of learner.
We work cooperatively with families to help each child establish kindergarten readiness and a firm foundation in their relationship with Christ.

I am delighted to step into the role of Director of New Horizon Preschool and Lead Teacher! I am amazed by all that the Lord is able to do in and through my life. I never would have imagined I’d be in my own backyard and back in the classroom. I have long had a burning heart for the world, which is why I studied French during my days at Seattle University. I had been fervently praying the Lord would open the door for me to serve in West Africa, specifically in Senegal or the Ivory Coast, hence my interested in the French language. But the Lord, in His usual sovereign fashion, saw fit to send me to South Korea to try my hand at teaching English. It’s too much to tell how the Lord used the children of South Korea to win me over to the joy of teaching and the beauty found in walking alongside children as they discover the love of the Father. Suffice it to say, I am now thrilled to bring to the families of Fife all the treasures I picked up while globetrotting.
When I am not traveling the world, then I can be found at home in the kitchen. I love to cook and bake. I have most recently perfected biscuits, focaccia, and will always love whipping up a batch of cookies. I enjoy the creativity that being in the kitchen provides. Oh no! I don’t have cream of tartar, (because who keeps that on hand!) But I find ways to work around such obstacles and enjoy good food with friends and family. I also started throwing things out on the grill and expanding my skills in that area, which has been grand fun.
I love reading and find great pleasure in diving into books of all sorts. As a teacher, particularly one who specializes in English acquisition, I strive to transfer that passion to my students. I believe that as we read our imaginations are activated and we can discover places we never dreamt of and adventures we can dare to take. I hope to bring many fresh stories to the children of New Horizon Preschool. Most of all, I want them to fall in love with the greatest story ever, which is that the Lord loved us enough to send His one and only Son to save us! May they not just love this story but become witnesses of its truth and power in their lives into Fife, Tacoma, and to the ends of the earth!

Hello, my name is Colleen, and I’m delighted to be one of the teachers at New Horizon Preschool. I’m passionate about nurturing young minds and watching them bloom as they discover the world around them.
I’m blessed to be married to an amazing man who is soon to become a nurse. Together, we have two beautiful daughters who bring so much joy to our lives. Our family has been a part of the New Horizon Church community for the past five years, and we feel incredibly grateful to call this our church home.
With several years of experience in childcare, this will be my third year at New Horizon Preschool, and I couldn’t be more excited to continue this journey. I absolutely love helping children learn new things, cheering them on when they face challenges, and celebrating their growth and achievements. There’s nothing quite like seeing the spark of understanding in a child’s eyes or the joy on their face when they accomplish something new.
Every year, I eagerly anticipate the start of the school year, knowing that I’ll be greeted by the smiling faces of eager learners. It’s an honor to be part of their educational journey, and I look
